🏥 Expert Advice Without Going to Hospital
Your GP can ask a hospital specialist for advice about your care – without sending you to hospital straight away.
This is called Pre-Referral Advice and Guidance (A&G).
✅ What does this mean for you?
- You may not need to go to hospital
- Your GP can get expert advice quickly
- Your care stays safe, joined-up, and closer to home
💬 What happens next?
If your GP has referred you for Advice and Guidance, a hospital consultant will look at your case and suggest the best next step.
This might mean:
- You continue your care with your GP or another healthcare professional
- Or, the consultant may recommend that you do need a hospital appointment
If an appointment is needed, your GP will refer you – and the hospital will contact you directly.
