You can contact our Cancer Care Coordinator – Louise McMullen works across all four practices in the Newport and Central PCN. Her aim is to provide a support service to cancer patients right from diagnosis and beyond, offering a dedicated cancer care review appointment within 9 months of being diagnosed. Louise offers face to face appointments of 45 minutes or telephone calls for anyone who has any non – clinical concerns or worries.
Louise is based in practices on the following days:

- Wednesday – Shawbirch Medical Centre
- Thursday – Linden Hall Surgery
- Friday – Donnington Medical Practice

What is Cancer?

The cancerous cells can invade and destroy surrounding healthy tissue, including organs.
What Is Cancer? Cancer is when abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled way. Some cancers may eventually spread into other tissues. Signs and symptoms of cancer Spotting cancer at an early stage saves lives, so tell your doctor if you notice anything that isn’t normal for you. You don’t need to try and remember all the signs and symptoms of cancer – listen to your body and talk to your doctor if you notice anything that isn’t normal for you. Signs and symptoms are more often caused by something less serious than cancer – but if it is cancer, spotting it early can make a big difference.
